Calcium supplements

Post  Kira on Tue Oct 26, 2010 3:09 am

Do U supplement? I can't get enough through the food cause I don't like diary. I was kinda careless so far but now I want to get better. Nuts are rich in calcium but very calorific. I also heard that it's hard to assimilate calcium from supplemnt. Any ideas?

Haha I love the word calorific. On a side note, I know its best to take calcium with a large meal so the largest meal you eat for the day should be the one you take the supplement with, if you chose that.

I take a calcium supplement with breakfast and dinner (the meals when I'm home). It's always good to take calcium with a meal because it won't be absorbed without food.

I am pretty sure that you need vitamin D to properly absorb calcium. They actually sell calcium supplements with vitamin D in them! So that makes it easier... Also can get vitamin D from sunshine and green leafy veggies like broccoli (altho does broccoli really have leaves? I think that's debatable...) :p
